Hillcrest Update

​​Theme for​ ​the​ ​Year:​“Choose​ ​Kindness” This year, the theme at Hillcrest will be “Choose Kindness.” The entire Hillcrest community will be discussing, exploring and practicing the many ways that we can choose to be kind.

Early Release Day - Thur. Sep. 28

Hillcrest Jog-a-thon, Wed. Oct. 11

Sponsor forms for the Hillcrest Jog-a-thon will be going home this week.  The homeroom class with the highest percentage of students receiving sponsors will earn a doughnut party.  Also, the t-shirt and sweatshirt participation prizes will be the winning “Choose Kindness” design.  Remember to submit shirt designs by October 8.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Friday, Oct. 6 - No School for Students

Departmentalized teachers will be available in Hillcrest Hall.  Parents will sign-up to speak with teachers on that day and are encouraged to attend in sessions by last name of their student.

Last names beginning with A-M -- 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Last names beginning with N-Z -- 12:10 PM - 3:10 PM

Sixth grade teachers and ENRICH! 7/8 teachers will make appointments to meet with their homeroom parents individually.  
Guys & Dolls Auditions

Wed. Oct 4 and Thur. Oct. 5, 3:40 PM, Music Room

All 6-8 grade students are welcome to audition for the spring musical.  Contact Mr. Pulley at npulley@grav.k12.ca.us for more information.
Make up Picture Day- Tuesday, October 10

Class and the group band picture will also be taken on October 10.

Halloween Dance - Friday, October 20, 7-9 PM

This is the first dance of the school year.  Tickets will be in sale the week before the dance and at the door.  Dances are organized by and benefit Hillcrest Student Council.  Hillcrest dances are for Hillcrest students only, and to be eligible to attend dances, students must attend school that day, have less than three principal assigned detentions, and no suspensions in that trimester.

Please have your student get a homework buddy to collect work from each class and leave it in the front office to be picked up at the end of the day (or the morning of the student's return.)  If your student does not have someone, then e-mail your student's teachers by 8AM and every effort will be made to have the work ready for pick up after school.  



Analy High School, in coordination with Project Success, will host a screening of the documentary, “Screenagers” on:

Wednesday, October 4th from 

6:00-8:00pm in the Analy High School Theatre.  


This free event begins with the screening of the documentary, “Screenagers”, directed by Delaney Ruston, M.D. and focuses on the impact of the age of digital media on our parents, children, and families.  Immediately following the screening, Analy will host an open discussion featuring panelists including: Analy High School administration, teachers, counselors, local law enforcement, parents and students. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to participate.
